First and foremost, the mk1 is an anniversary edition with few units produced only in 2017, compared to the mk2 in 2018-2022 with at least five times as many units made and counting. Also, the mk1 saw the arrival of the first SD with 43mm (a departure from classic .Ok, so it’s pretty common knowledge that the 50th Anniversary Sea Dweller, or as .MK2 is back to the true roots of the Explorer and carries on the lineage of the 1016 .

The mk1 is far superior, and now I’m bent I hadn’t picked a new one up yet. The darker green has a classier tone for sure. The mk2 is almost too...sharp(?). Granted, if the mk1 had never existed we’d all think it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Sent using Tapatalk
I have the MK1 and at first I thought the right one in the photo was an MK1, then I took out my watch and looked and sure enough it's the left one. The color changes somewhat dramatically depending on external lighting, which is one of the charm of this watch. I wonder what it's like in Mk2. i vote mk1. the new lumed 39mm explorer is just a bigger version of the original. the white gold numerals and shorter hands of the mk1 makes it stand apart. it's immediately identifiable as the first gen 39mm explorer. if i need to look at it twice just to see that it's slightly bigger than the original, it's failed to set itself apart as a . I thought if there is such a big difference, that I would try to buy the Mk2. Now after looking at it in person, there is a small difference but not worth getting another SubLV if you have the Mk1 bezel. I do like the new Bezel color but would be happy with either one.
He’s not the type of guy to go throwing around MK1, MK2, MK3 etc. but he straight up says with 100% certainty, the three bezel inserts he’s looking at are three different color variations. Pictures he's sent me. With the advice of a previous thread, I've decided to execute on the SD43. But I'm getting caught up in the MK1 vs MK2 theoretical value and it's delaying my purchase. How much value should I place on an MK1, as I think I would be better off buying a never worn MK2 except for fear of missing out? Also, anything else I should consider? Mk1 and Mk2, as far as i know it’s only the Bezel inserts within these two. Flat 4 and pointed 4’s. Same dials. Y’s and early F’s are Mk1’s up to mid F5xxxxxx serials. M
Walked into Bucherer on 57th yesterday in NYC wearing my Starbucks and noticed they had the new model on display with the mk2 bezel. Was able to snap some pics of mine and the exhibition model side by side.
